Dragon Boat Victoria and CNY United present Lunar New Year Dragon Boat Festival at Victoria Harbour, Docklands over the weekend on the 13 and 14 February 2021.

Starting each day with an unique eye dotting ceremony to awaken the dragons and the blessing of the boats and water to ensure safe racing, the festival is a blend of tradition and heart-stopping action as the spectacular dragon boats race along Victoria Harbour to the beat of the drums. These experiences bond team member together for years to come. While thousands of people cheer on paddlers, others come to enjoy cultural performance, lion dance, family activities and food trucks.

Join us and celebrate this special tradition, dragon boating and the spirit of friendly competition at this Dragon Boat Festival!

 

Day One: 13 February 2021

Time: 9:30am - 4:00pm

Entry to Day One for 200m races is open to corporate organisations, universities, community and charity groups and international dragon boat clubs. 

Entries close by 23:59pm Monday, 31 January 2021.

Entry Fee (per team):

Corporate: $1,500

University: $1,000

Community & Charity Group: $800

*Entry Fee includes cost of one 2-hour training session prior to race day, individual sport injury insurance to all waiver listed members of a team, use of personal floatation device and paddles on training and race days, and a space (3m x 3m) for your team along Victoria Harbour  facing the race course.

Training Sessions:

All teams must complete a minimum of one training session which can be done on race day or a date in Janauary/February prior. The cost of this training session is included in the entry fee.

Teams can purchase additional 3 training sessions up to a maximum of 4 training sessions per team. Each additional training session costs $200 per session. *A minimum of 14 paddlers is required for a training session to go ahead.

Please submit how many training sessions will be required on registration.

Marquee Hire:

Teams can bring a marquee/tent or hire a marquee (3m x 3m) for the space from DBV. Hire fee is $200 per marquee. Please submit how many marquee will be required on registration.

Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm

Entry to Day Two for 200m races is open to DBV affiliated club, AusDBF clubs and international dragon boat clubs. VIC based clubs enter via revSPORT. Interstate and international clubs should contact Dragon Boat Victoria.

Club Categories: Premiers and Senior A in: Open, Womens & Mixed.

  • Entries now open
  • Early Bird closes Friday 29 January 11:59pm (standard paddler rate applies from Saturday 30 January)
  • Crew modification closes Friday 12 February 11:59pm
  • Draft draw released no later than Tuesday 9 February 11:59pm
  • Final draw published no later than Thursday 11 February 1pm

  • The Festival will be 'live streamed' all day on Sunday 14 February.

  • DBV is currently taking Expression of Interests (EOI) for a commentator from the Dragon Boat community or experienced within the sport, to commentate within the Kayo live feed  and races on Sunday.

Entry fee and crew modification extended

  • Paddler entries of $42 for adults and $21 for students/juniors now extended until Fri 11:59pm Friday 12 February.
  • Crew modifications close Sunday 14 February at 8:00am.

New category and races released

  • For members - Saturday 13 February - 2km race (Premier Open 20's) which is included as part of Sunday 14 February entry fee.

Saturday 13 February 2021- Corporate, Community, Charity & University racing

  • Clubs will have three (3) options for supporting the event and for receiving revenue for Saturday 13 February.

1) 'Finders Fee': clubs who refer a team who sign up for racing will receive $150 per team

2) 'Hosting Fee': clubs who host a team on the day, provide a pre-race training session, Level 3 Sweep and optional Drummer will receive $225 per team.

3) 'Both options': clubs receive $375 per team

Sunday 14 February 2021

  • Club and member 200m racing.
  • Live streamed on Fox Sports/Kayo.
  • Roving entertainment including multi skilled acts.
  • Food trucks and merchandise vendors.
  • Lion Dance on Sunday after racing and before presentations.
  • CovidSafe event plan and site density layout in place and approved by Vic Gov.
